Weapons – (Guns):
A Weapon – A thing designed or used for inflicting bodily harm or physical damage. Something such as a club, knife, or gun used to injure, defeat, or destroy; a means of contending against another. An instrument, material, or substance, whether animate or inanimate, that, in the manner it is used, or intended to be used, is capable of producing death or serious bodily injury.
Many objects can be used as a weapon. Is there a need to take away all objects from citizens that may be used as a weapon? How about appropriate behavior? Responsibility?
“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
Incorporates the fundamental right to keep and bear arms for the purpose of self-defense.
Let’s be clear, any weapon or gun does not kill anyone. IE: There could be any weapon or gun sitting loaded with a bunch of people surrounding the loaded gun with the safety off and the gun will do absolutely nothing until an irresponsible person picks up the gun to harm someone.
Guns don’t kill people, it’s the people that are picking up the guns in an irresponsible fashion are the ones that are killing people. Criminals if you will.
What happened to responsibility? People acting appropriately? Accountability?
A mountain of laws can be passed and this still will not stop or correct the behavior. Is it not apparent that we have an abundance of laws that may pertain to any one subject and people still break the laws.
It appears that we are heading in a direction where our government passes additional laws to dictate to us what we can or can not have, and how we can or can not do something. Essentially being told what to do.
We are a democracy and dictating to people is a dictatorship or communist country.
Good people in a land that has a democracy act responsible; they only need “some laws” to define “some order”. They do not need an overwhelming amount of laws to dictate to them how to behave correctly; they already know how to behave correctly.
Adults are now to be treated as children and have things taken away from them in order to have them behave correctly?
There is a need to have our government, government employees, appointed government employees and elected officials to tell us what we may and may not have?
The “chosen ones” are permitted but “We The People” need to have our rights denied? I thought that these were just everyday citizens within a district that were elected? What do they know more about a firearm than we do?
Well after all they have a right to protect themselves. Right?
The “twisted interpretation” of the rule of law.
Why do they have a right to possess a firearm? In many cases these elected government employees, appointed government employees and officials have handgun carrying permits (concealed weapon permits). I wonder how many firearms they possess in their homes?
Firearms TRACL – Maybe this is what is needed?
Training – re-certification
Responsibility – responsible ownership
Accountability – knowledgeable ownership
Certification – required certification ownership
Licencing – renewals of ownership
If in fact there was a process just as all other licencing; an in person event that would have the proper evaluation to be licensed. IE: a driving license, a hunting permit, a liquor license, etc.
Except in this instance just as police officers have a need to “qualify” every so often while being in the possession of a weapon. If this was implemented there will be a record that will ensure the continued use and ownership of a weapon to be handled “responsibly”.
Educational courses that would have a person have the knowledge of responsible gun ownership. How to care for a weapon, load a weapon, store a weapon, etc.
Not a long drawn out expensive process that would infringe on the 2nd amendment. There are police academies, police ranges and hunting firearms safety courses all over the nation that can be accessed with the same taxpayer dollars that are being used to fund these facilities.
Hunters and gun owners understand the need to respect the responsibility of a firearm and the manner in which it is used. They attend firearms safety courses and many are mandatory in order to obtain a hunting licence. There is a respect for wildlife and the wilderness itself non the less the respect of not performing any harm to people.
We have had within the past few years witnessed people driving cars in crowds of people to cause harm. Are we now to take automobiles away from “We The People”? Is there a need to redefine and amend automobile ownership? That would be absurd.
